MX Racing Acacia Hills Motocross Association

The first round of the MG Electrical Sendit & Spend It Series 2024 . The event hosted by Acacia Hills Motocross Association sets the stage for a fantatsic series of motorised action sport in Darwin’s rural area. The glorious dry season weather coupled with first rate track prep complimented the club member’s hard work and dedication to provide the best experience for competitors. And wow, did the riders respond with excellent perfomances in all classes.

Practice got under way early. The sun was casting long shadows and the track watering regime worked well. Classes lined up to try out the track for the day and check out the layout changes from last year. The riders made good use of the two laps and seemed to like the conditions. The atmosphere in the pit area reflected the building excitement .

It wasn’t long before the action began as racing kicked off with the Expert class. The line up had their first go at the great track conditions in attack mode. Rider Thomas Bennnet #130 showed how he would continue all day and scored 25 points in that first race and the subsequent 2 races to finish on top for round 1.

The Women, Vets and Clubman all-in class made for great action into the first R/hand turn. Race day honours went to Emily Sharp #300 who rode consistently enough beating Jasmine Burrel #401 in two out of the three races. Cord Goodger #101 won all three Veteren’s class races. In the clubmans class top scoring was shared between riders Sam McAuley #139 1st place and Bruno Poitevin #143 2nd both on 65 points.

Junior Lites rider Ronan Skehan #99 cleared out to conquer race 1, however that form did not continue and he finished 3rd overall for the day behind 1st place Ben Macfarlane #46 and 2nd place Banjo Williamson #224.

85cc big wheel races were commanded by Rhys Gwynne #198 and the Small wheel class top scorer was # 46 Ben Macfarlane

Notable rider on both 50cc and 65cc machines was Frankie Komar # 164 who clearly had a champion day. Another stand out for the day was the girls class. It is so good to see so many young females getting the MX bug and gearing up to ride the track. The top three junior girls were Navana Evans, Nahla Evans and Jacinta Gwynne.

Interesting to see that Banjo #224 who recorded the fastest lap time in Junior lites was only 4.5 seconds off from Pro rider Tom Bennet’s fasted lap.

All classes provided some fabulous on track action. I was able to capture a good selection of images of each rider and they can be viewed and purchased by following this link.
